Finally got the 3/4 ton rear axle in!

Matty came over today and we were able to get the new axle in the rear of my truck!! The rear was a lot easier than I was expecting. Granted its a fairly temporary setup until I can make it to pull-a-part to get a more permanent setup.

Any way you look at it, this is one more huge step towards getting the entire project wrapped up!

First blood Sacrifice for the sister's new place!

They finally get a sunny day to work on finalizing the yurt this last Thursday. After I got off work I went over to help out. When I got there they had already put the lattice up around the outside and were pretty much ready to get the rafters going up. The center ring was in the center of the yurt and we started putting the rafters in. The first 3 went up fairly easily and now the center ring can support itself. We started filling in around the 3 that were already in. I discovered that if you take one of the loose rafters and push up on the center ring its much easier for someone else to put in the rafters. I also discovered that if a hinged 2 x 4 hits you on the head from appx. 10 feet in the air it leaves a pretty nasty cut! One other thing that I discovered was that head wounds bleed... ALOT!!! By the time that the 2 x 4 made it to the ground I'm positive that my entire face was covered in blood.

The worst part about the whole thing is that my sister had just stopped filming! I ruined a perfectly good t-shirt in sacrifice of keeping my blood off of their floors! I succeeded, and I think that the yurt knew it. As I was in the house getting cleaned up another rafter fell to the ground and busted open a sharpie spilling its blood all over the rug that was under it.

New Computer!!!

I got a new computer today... YAY! I went to Best Buy looking for a new monitor since mine went TU and ended up walking out with a new computer! So instead of paying 200 or so for a new monitor and paying another 100 or so for the upgraded vid card and running all of this on an antique. I spent the 600 for a brand new monitor nice PC and it came with an all in one printer!

What a day of work!

This morning started out fine... I was cleaning out the boom cell to get ready to set it all up. There was a small parts rack for another cell in there and I had to cut it up to throw it away. Naturally I used the plasma cutter that was in the cell already for re-work. I got about 3/4 of the way done and the plasma stopped working, now I thought it might just be the consumables. I went on a search to find some since the area I work in was fresh out. I talked with a couple of the guys up in Kaizen and they tried the tip out on their plasma and it worked just fine... go figure! Eric and I then came to the conclusion that the machine itself crapped out= tag it and send it out to be repaired, Damn that sucks.

Going along with setting up the boom cell Collin and I had move the material handlers and fixtures around. This means that I need to use a forklift to move this stuff around. I moved a pallet down an aisle way and as I was backing out I bumped into a cart that was sitting on the left side. The cart then proceeded to bump into one of the posts on the chassis cell... effectively dislodging it from its anchor in the floor with enough force to do the same to another one downstream. Now I gotta get off the forklift grab a BFH (big effin hammer) and beat these posts back into line. After they get as close as their gonna get I put everything back in place so that maybe Carlos won't notice...He did... I guess I overlooked the markers that I knocked off the signal board. Oh well I was going to tell him anyway ~wink wink~

Today was Safety Team meeting which ended up being an hour and 15. Just after I got out of the meeting and turn my radio back on I get a call that the Kasuga is having problems (the Kasuga is one of the mills I support) Any how nothing out of the ordinary these machines have problems on an almost daily basis. Much to my surprise this is a big problem, the machine had been crashed HARD... The fixture had a total of 5 bolts (that hold various elements of the fixture down) completely sheared off :-0 Good thing it was the end of the day and Matt was already in otherwise I would have had alot to do!

Question of the day...

So today on "The Men's Room" on 99.9 KISW the question of the day was what gift from a past relationship do you wish you could get back or get rid of? The only thing that I really came up with is that I let an ex rearrange my place because she was getting into an Interior Decorator thing so I told her to move the stuff around in my apartment. Now I kinda wanna move the stuff back or at least move it to different spots but I'm to damn lazy.

Ever wonder?

Have you ever sat down and wondered how others live their lives? I often wonder how people get by with seemingly less money than others yet continue to live full happy lives. Now don't get me wrong, I know that money isnt everything but nowadays with the cost of gas and everything that goes along with those rising costs... It seems close to impossible to get out there and take the vacations, the nice dinners etc. that we all deserve. Granting that I have a unique financial situation where I really dont have control over my money (read I screwed up and now a financial advisor... Mom... takes care of things for me). It must just be that that makes it seem so much harder for me... I know I have the money but I can't use it.... say i think that PS3 game looks really badass but unless I have an extra bit of cash from my weekly "allowance" then its not something I can get.

Now Im sure you are saying to yourself well thats good for you... it will keep you from spending frivolously. I can agree with that however it would just be nice to splurge now and then and not have to wait for my tax return or company bonus. Everyone splurges even during strict diets people splurge so they can feel guilty about what they ate and go back to their diet. I feel the same about my situation. Hell I've had an outline of a tattoo on my arm screaming to be finished for well over a year now... I WANT IT FINISHED... but at $300 its a bit steep to ask my Financial Advisor...Mom... for the cash.

I dont know how others feel, and I know that I'm not going to get any feedback but I thought I would just vent a little.

Anyhow I'm glad that people can be happy living their lives as they do and I know its not just me that has problems.

My sister and her yurt.

So over the past few days I have been helping my sister and brother in law construct their new home, which happens to be a yurt (don't know what a yurt is? look here). That is a link to their blog about the huge step they are making in their lives to live in a yurt. Check it out!

First foray into the blogging community...

So today marks the first time that I have actually posted to a blog. I figure this will be a good way for me to get my thoughts out to the world whether no one reads them or not!

So a little about me in case any one becomes interested in this blog (highly doubt it).

My name is Jeff I live in a small-medium sized town called Snohomish, Washington. I am 24 years old as I write this and currently employed @ Genie Industries in Redmond Wa. My job title is Associate Engineering Technician, however I call myself a fire fighter because the vast majority of my job is running around solving problems. I support about 8 different weld cells and 4 different CNC mills ( of the very large type) . These machines have pallet changers and 4th axes but to be perfectly honest we use them as glorified drill presses. Which is kinda sad granting the amount of parts that we could easily produce on these machines. Oh well thats enough about work for now, I will delve further into this part of my life later on...

Another aspect of my life is wheelin, however my truck is not running at this time I still go out wheelin with friends on a fairly regular basis. Once again thats enough about this for now, I will get into it more later.

So thats the basics of me I will get into it all alot more later so stay tuned (to those of you who may have accidentally stumbled upon this and found it slightly interesting)
